Countries: Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Italy
Locations visited: Amsterdam, Wageningen, Bonn, Manheim and Heidelberg, Basel, Florence and Rome
Themes: Study in Europe; University visits; Student mobility and exchange; Academic exploration; Cultural discovery
Organised for a group of Chinese high school students, the programme brought the group across several European countries to explore the possibility of studying at university in Europe while discovering the cultural character of its cities. Throughout the trip, visits to universities provided insight into prospective degree programmes, admission procedures and student life, alongside exchanges with Chinese students already enrolled in European institutions.
The journey began in the Netherlands, where the students spent time in Amsterdam and Wageningen, experiencing the atmosphere of lively academic towns and gaining their first impressions of European university life. Walking through historic streets and vibrant neighbourhoods helped them see how higher education is closely connected to the rhythm of everyday urban life.
The programme then continued to Germany and Switzerland. In Bonn, Heidelberg and Mannheim, followed by Basel, the students encountered different university environments and regional cultures, offering new perspectives on academic traditions, international communities and the wider context in which European universities operate.
The final stage of the journey took place in Italy, where the group visited Florence and Rome, cities shaped by centuries of history, art and cultural heritage. By the end of the trip, the students had gained a clearer understanding of what studying in Europe might offer, both academically and culturally.
