Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday, April 18 - International flight Milan-Beijing
We are at Milan-Malpensa Airport to take the Air China direct international flight to Beijing-Capital together.
Day 2 – Sunday, April 19 - Arrival in Beijing / Temple of Heaven / Meeting on Chinese art
Upon our arrival at the airport, we are greeted by the Chinese guide to start the journey together.
We begin our stay with a visit to the Temple of Heaven (Tiāntán), which we reach with our private bus (approx. 1 hour). The Temple, a large imperial ritual complex, has been a UNESCO site since 1998. Here, architecture, philosophy, and symbolism intertwine in a unique balance. In the park, every shape, color, and proportion reflects Chinese cosmology. With an expert guide, we discover the hidden meanings of this extraordinary place.
After lunch in the area, we take the bus (approx. 1 hour) to the hotel for check-in and a bit of rest. In the afternoon, there is an orientation meeting with a brief introduction to the history of Chinese art in preparation for the deeper immersion in the following days. Dinner near the hotel.
Day 3 – Monday, April 20 - Great Wall (section near Beijing)
On the second day, we are in for a visit to a true marvel of human ingenuity: the Great Wall. We have chosen one of the most authentic and spectacular sections, that of Jinshanling, where the Wall winds like a dragon’s backbone, nestled among the folds of the Yanshan Mountains. Rebuilt in 1573, the Wall embodies a particular Chinese vision of borders not as clear separations, but as harmonious coexistence in diversity (hé ér bù tóng).
We leave the hotel by coach (approx. 2 h 40 min, depending on traffic) and arrive at Jinshanling. After lunch on-site, we walk a section of the Wall. The walking route (approx. 2 h) is 5.4 km long, with an elevation gain of +221 m and a descent of -219 m. Including breaks, the excursion will take about 5 hours in total.
We return to the hotel in time for dinner, which we have near the hotel.
