We travelled through Scotland and England on a journey that combined landscape, culture and meaningful shared experiences, beginning in Edinburgh and moving north through Aberdeenshire, Findhorn, Inverness and the Cairngorms, before continuing south to Bristol, Stroud, Amesbury and London. From the first walk beneath the skyline of Edinburgh to the final days in the capital, we followed a programme that balanced discovery with reflection.
In Scotland, we spent time between city life and wide open landscapes. We walked through Edinburgh’s old centre, climbed above the city for sweeping views and then headed towards Stonehaven, Aberdeen and the Moray coast, where the atmosphere became quieter and more spacious. Around Findhorn and Forres, we experienced a different rhythm shaped by nature, community life and time outdoors, while in Inverness we discovered the character of the Highlands through museums, traditional events and evenings filled with local energy. Our days around Loch Ness, Drumnadrochit, Clava Cairns and the Cairngorms National Park brought together water, forest, history and walking routes that made the whole trip feel both grounded and memorable.
The final part of the route added another layer to the experience, taking us from Bristol to Stroud, on to Amesbury and finally London. Looking back, this was not simply a tour of places in the United Kingdom, but a carefully paced travel experience shaped by conversation, scenery and time spent together. It left us with the feeling that this kind of itinerary, rich in regional character and shared moments, is one of the most rewarding ways to explore Scotland and England.
